Dear Aunt
Rachel Jenkinson,
Thy very acceptable letter of 12th of 3Mo reached me some time since, but owing to excessive occupation, this is I believe the first time that I have sat down to answer any foreign letters since its reception. I am perfectly assured & satisfied that your solicitude and sympathy does not slumber as felt towards me, and I believe that I may say that the feeling is entirely reciprocal.
You tell me to hold my hand as regards supplies, but I should not feel easy so to do, as I have set apart £50 Stg to be annually remitted to you, and most assuredly there ought to be no person or persons from whom you should more willingly receive it in the first place because it is your right and my duty and in the next place in as much as it goes to prove that your early lessons and fostering cares are not forgotten by those in whose behalf they were exerted and therefore ought to your mind to bring satisfaction, under

these views and feelings. I solicit your reception of the enclosed draft for Fifty pounds Sterling to apply proceeds as to yourself seems best, to contribute to your comfort.
I have the pleasure of saying that I enjoy through the blessings of Providence good health, independence as to means and respectability as to character all which I state and I conceive it will be pleasing to you to hear.
I shall ever and always be glad to receive a few lines from you and I wish you to believe me to be
Yr Affectionate
& grateful Nephew
James J. Wright
