Arthur (Art) Schawlow visited the Spectroscopy Group, Department of Experimental Physics at University College Galway in July 1986. Art developed the theoretical basis for lasers along with Charles Townes. Arthur Schawlow shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1981, (Wikipedia, June, 2024).
