Description
Dr Máirín de Valéra with Fr J.H. Mullahy, SJ in July 1952 'not far from Finevarra'.
The photograph shows the longstanding interest of Máirín de Valéra in the Finavarra area, near the Flaggy Shore in Co. Clare on the southern shore of Galway Bay, as a site of great potential for research in marine algae. Later on, in April 1973, thanks to the generosity of Clare County Development Committee, a field laboratory was established and opened by the University at Finavarra on a site chosen by Máirín.
People
Dr Máirín de Valéra and Fr J.H. Mullahy, SJ, as noted by Máirín on the back of the photograph
