Description

The Cumann Éargna Aiconta (Science Society) organised their first ever overseas tour in March 1966 and the destination was Germany. Venues included Heidelberg; Berlin which included attendance at a Brecht play and visiting the Berlin Wall; and a visit to a plant which manufactured contraceptive pills. They also visited a BASF chemical facility, possibly located in Ludwigshafen. Twenty four - twenty five persons who went on the Tour are shown in this picture. More senior attendees included Dr Patrick F. Fottrell and the UCG Chaplain, Fr Tom Kyne. Names of some of the Tour attendees are given below and pictured here from left to right:
