Burren
'I wanted to put this field on my map, but of course there was no way of indicating what was remarkable about it on the map sheet; nor did I want to make too much of it in a land of such marvels as the Burren. In the end I marked it with a dot and in tiny print the words 'a strange field'. . . I take from this instance another modality of places: strangeness.'
