  In the early twentieth century the University’s Library was housed in the north section of the Quadrangle and contained 40,000 books.

• Lynch's Castle on Shop Street, Galway
  Shop Street has been the main thoroughfare through the commerical heart of the town for centuries. Lynch’s Castle was built in the sixteenth century and was latterly the property of the Browne family.
